Had a chance this past August to visit Edison Ave just days after the signing deadline and many of the Red Sox new young propects were on hand at the Player Development Complex. This secluded location will be greatly missed by scouts and fans alike.
Feel free to add any memory shots you may have taken at the complex.

Greetings from the friendly confines of 4301.

Hope Johnny's sign makes its way to Daniels Parkway.

And Popowski...

And Maldonado too.
Here are shots from a few of the last offical GCL Sox days at 4301 Edison.

Blake Swihart, 1st round 2011 pick out of New Mexico (Cleveland HS). The switch hitting catcher projects to break camp as the starting catcher for the Greenville Drive.

Henry Owens, a 2011 supplemental 1st rounder from California is a 6'7" projectable lefty who is also expected to open the 2011 season in the South Atlantic League. Can't help but notice the length of his fingers in this shot. (Could Pedro come over someday and help show him how to use them best to get the maximum movement on the ball?)

Cody Kukuk, 2011 7th round pick from the state of Kansas throws a fastball in the low 90's and a slider in the low 80's and will be working on developing a change up at the Fort and then on to the Lowell Spinners in the starting rotation.

Williams Jerez, CF, from Brooklyn, NY has plus speed, a plus arm and above average bat speed.
2nd round, 2011

2012 Prospect Preview, Williams Jerez

Jerez will be fun the watch develop and projects to start his summer in the NY-Penn League.

Jose Vinicio, SS, was an International free agent signing in July of 2009 as a 16 year old out of Santo Domingo, DR., shows above average range, quick hands, and a solid average arm. He also produces good bat speed from both sides of the plate and projects to stay at SS.

Kendrick Perkins, LF, is a 6th rounder signed by Matt Dorey in August of 2010 as an 18 year old out of La Porte, Texas. He has plus power potential.
Perkins would be my first pick if we were playing flag football at the company picnic.

Rounding third with a Bo Jackson like stride.

Currently uses a high kick as a timing device.

Jordan Weems, C, is a 3rd rounder and signed in late July of 2011 from Columbus, Georgia and projects to be the starting catcher for the Lowell Spinners.

Sergio Gomez, RHP, signed in 2009 as an International Free Agent out of Cartagena, Colombia at the age of 16.

Projects to be part of the starting rotation in the short season NY-Penn League. Look for Chris Mellen and the SP Staff to get a good look at Sergio on their trip to the Fort.

Mookie Betts, 2B, signed at the 2011 deadline out of Tennessee (Overton HS).

Mookie's plus speed, quick feet, and soft hands should prove useful as he moves from SS to 2B as a professional.

Watching Vinicio and Betts turn double plays in Lowell should alone be worth the price of admission.

Zach Good, LHP, signed in June of 2011 as a 20th round pick out of Mesquite, Texas. Zach had 7.5 K/9 and 3.33 K/BB in 24 IN with the GCL Red Sox. He also projects to be in the starting rotation for the Spinners in 2012.
