I'm a Springsteen fan, but he was horrible on the halftime show. It was full of schtick and was just dumb.

I'm ok with the Madonna choice. To me a better option would have been Jay-Z and Kanye West, but they're too "young" for what they've been going for probably. She's got the star power and frankly, they're running out of performers at that level. List of best-selling artists of all time:

So the short list at this point is probably AC/DC, Billy Joel, Elton John, Led Zeppelin.

I think a time will come where they'll have to go more recent, but think - that thinking is what got us the Black Eyed Peas last year, who were just AWFUL.

Then again, I love the Stones, and I'll admit their performance was pretty bad. The shows I remember:

2011: Black Eyed Peas - TERRIBLE
2010: The Who - Meh. Ok.
2009: Bruce - Schtick? Bleh
2008: Tom Petty - Solid.
2007: Prince - Killed it.
2006: Stones - Sounded awful.
2005: Paul McCartney - Solid.
2004: Boobies!
2003: Don't remember
2002: U2 - best ever
2001: Aerosmith and friends - Ok.
