Dominican, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico rosters have been announced. Only names that really stuck out in BA's blog post as being relevant here (other than brief PawSox Freddy Guzman and Runelvys Hernandez) are former Lancaster JetHawk All-World second baseman Tony Granadillo and fat pitcher and one-time Gammons crush Edgar Martinez.

Another World Cup update, with it now clear that Xander was added to the Netherlands roster to ride the pine.

Is it unlikely though? A lot of the other teams are trotting out players at about the Triple-A level. Their starting shortstop, Mariekson Gregorius, reached Double-A this season in the Cincy org at age 21. Could just be that he can handle the advanced pitching better.

Given that Vazquez and Dening have been playing, I doubt it's an issue with the Sox asking he not play. For comparison's sake, Jonathan Schoop, who was also in the SAL this year, is getting eaten up, hitting just 2-for-14.
