Veteran Member Posts: 931 07/21/11 3:25 PM	I don't doubt this team's offensive ability anymore but catching Hernandez and Pineda in the same series is not ideal. At least the M's have a AAA lineup. I'll put the over-under on the strikeouts these guys have (combined) at 17.

Veteran Member Posts: 1140 07/21/11 6:33 PM Veteran Member	Mariners lost 12th in a row today. They were 43-43 up until the losing streak. We might be able to wear Pineda down in the heat and with our lineup. He can throw a lot of pitches early at times. Fascinating matchup Friday. Best pitcher in baseball vs the best lineup in baseball. And, the worse(statistically) pitcher vs one of the worse lineups. Hope Lackey keeps us in the game until King Felix tires out. Gonna be hot as hell. So, we might be catching a break with the weather. If it comes down to bullpens vs the lineups they'll face. We should be fine.

I know we're talking about gut feelings, not math, but I still can't let this slide. There's no such thing as being "due." If a team is a true-talent .400 team, it doesn't matter whether they're coming off a 12 game win streak or a 12 game losing streak, there's still a 40% chance they'll win the next game. (And much less than that if you're playing the best team in the league at their home park.)

I am not even worried about Pineda as he has allowed 4+ ER during three of his last four games. He is getting tired and will be shut down soon once he hits his innings limit. I would set the over-under at 12.
