I still think he goes back to Lowell when that season starts and/or when a draftee is ready to go up to Greenville. My guess is that this is a reward for performing well in XST. Both Meneses and Garcia had been getting significant playing time through when I was caught up on the box scores (admittedly, I'm a couple weeks behind on tracking that...), so it's not really a "need" thing.

After seeing Xander Bogaerts in Instrux this past fall and in Fort Myers during ST, I came away pretty impressed with his talent level and some of the things he does at the plate at a young age.  But, he is raw in other areas and especially raw defensively.  Taking Bogaerts at 18 years old and looking down the line on a physical projection to when he is 24-28 years old, I see him moving off the shortstop position and over to third base or out to left field.  Given his frame and potential to pack on some good muscle/weight, it is more when rather than if to me, but we shall see on that of course.  Offensively, I am expecting him to struggle picking up secondary pitches and have below-average to fringe average contact, but also show flashes of power.  Probably in the form of doubles at first.  He produces very good backspin to all fields and I like the fluidity/explosiveness of his hands.
