This will no doubt be a very pivotal off-season for the Celtics. If you look at their salaries for the 2011-2012 season and the 2012-2013 seasons it is very reminiscent of what the Miami Heat had in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. In the Heat's case Pat Riley set it up so that he had several expiring contracts heading into the 2010 off season so this way he could offer contracts to Wade, James, and Bosh and then fill the roster. Ainge has done the same as there are only two Celitcs with guaranteed contracts after the 2012 season, Pierce and Rondo.
I think they will try to have one more good run with this unit, try get a center to sign a one year contract for 2011-2012, and then go after Dwight Howard in the summer of 2012. A lot of people are going to want to sign Nene this off season, try and make Marc Gasol an offer that Memphis can't match, or sign Jamaal Crawford to be a spark off the bench. Should be an interesting off season to watch Ainge and Doc handle.
What do you think is the best move going forward?
