The Sox do not have any players eligible under free agent arbitration this year, as Jason Bay and Billy Wagner were the only two players offered free agent arbitration, and both declined to accept. Boston declined to offer arbitration to Rocco Baldelli, Chris Woodward, and Paul Byrd.
Boston still has four players eligible for Pre-FA arbitration this year:
Jeremy Hermida (4+ years ST)
Jonathan Papelbon (4+ years ST)
Manny Delcarmen (3+ years ST)
Ramon Ramirez (3+ years ST)
The following players would have been eleigible to file for Pre-FA arbitration:
Brian Anderson (3+ years ST) - Non-tendered on December 12, 2009.
Boof Bonser (3+ years ST) - Avoided arbitration, signing for $650,000 on December 12, 2009 (had not filed for arbitration).
Fernado Cabrera (3+ years ST) - Outrighted to Pawtucket on November 5. Refused outright assignment and elected free agency, ultimately re-signing with Boston to a minor league deal on December 12, 2009.
Casey Kotchman (4+ years ST) - Traded to Seattle on January 7, 2010.
Hideki Okajima (3 years ST) - Avoided arbitration, signing for $2,750,000 on January 14, 2010 (had not filed for arbitration)
Takashi Saito (4 years ST) - Non-tendered due to stipulation in contract disallowing arbitration offer. Outrighted to AAA to allow negotiations to continue with Red Sox throughout offseason. Signed a one-year, $3,200,000 contract with Atlanta on December 3, 2009, with possible bonuses up to $2,300,000.
