If true, I am loving this. edit: here's the post from pg. 2 of the thread Boston also reached a tentative agreement on a two-year contract with outfielder Mike Cameron, according to a person familiar with those negotiations. Edit: I think Cameron would be used as a super 4th OF'er, giving Drew, Ellsbury, and Hermida regular days off. I think Ellsbury stays in CF because that is where they want him long-term and they're not going to sacrifice his development for a couple of runs (at best) on defense. Playing time to be split based on performance (Hermida especially) and health (Drew and Cameron especially).

Veteran Member Posts: 88 12/14/09 8:02 PM	I love bringing in Cameron, a Cameron, Ellsbury, Drew Outfield will be all kinds of good defensively. 25 HR power is nice from a guy who should probably be hitting 7th or 8th. Gives you great flexibilty by having two starting caliber centerfielders on the roster. Cameron doesn't steal a ton of bases anymore but should be a nice upgrade on baserunning as well. Sure his BA and high k rate suck, and you wish he was younger, but the dude is always in shape.

I don't care whether Cameron plays CF or LF. The Sox will have guys that can go get the ball everywhere, no matter how they are aligned. I think the Sox like Ellsbury so much because if he can ever really put his offensive game together, given that he doesn't strike out all that much, they figure he could hit .340.

I like the (potential) deal too. But I'm not following you on "Ellsbury's arm gets hidden by the monster." What the Monster does is hide bad range, by making LF smaller. What the Monster can't do is throw the ball back to the infield.
