I stand corrected on Lackey: It's five years, $82.5 million. Exact same as Burnett deal. No performance bonuses, no extras.

So what time is the PC?
Just anxious to hear him start boasting over how he always wanted to be a Red Sox, just to be a part of the tradition here, and how much influence Newbury St. had on his wife before making the decision... In all seriousness, Lackey and Cameron should equal 25+ wins between the two of them for $98 million. We would have been lucky to get half that with Bay for $75+ million over the course of the next 5 years. |

iI'm little uneasy about not finalizing the contract. Is there any way they cancel the deal if they dont agree in the language?

I hate the Yankees. I cant stand their management, their players and their owners. Maybe I gave the wrong impression here but I love the Red Sox. I just dont
trust what this Cashman snake does.

Lackey is going to have to get a new number since Victor already wears number 41.

That's good. Now if we can package Buchholz plus prospects for Hanley or Gonzalez the yankee fans are going to have a meltdown. They are petrified about
the Red Sox getting a big bat. I love seeing them squirm.

Hmmm Edit: Re: Temple - I thought it was pretty clear that he was NOT a Yankees fan, which is why I thought it was funny that he was defending himself so adamantly as a Sox fan. Apologies for derailing the thread, although considering the number he's going to wear is the biggest concern of the moment, I think this topic's pretty much been exhausted.

I'm a little confused. Do some people think the Sox over-paid at 87.5M for Lackey? The comments about him being the highest paid FA for Theo and the
amount of money. Real world it's a ton of money, but we're beyond that at this point right?
If we did an AL Starting Pitchers Power Rankings where would Lackey fall? |

I did a top 9 and separated them into 3 sections... The reason I did a top 9 was it seemed like the 10th person could be any number of guys and was clearly
below these other guys. Burnett, in my opinion, is below Beckett and Lackey, but the numbers do support him being grouped together. Out of the 3 he's the
one I have the least faith in. Might have the best stuff, but he's the worst pitcher out of the lot. The only one not listed Alphabetical is Burnett,
because I can easily place him behind the other 2 in his group.
1. Greinke 1.. King Felix 3. CC 3.. Lee 3. Lester 3. Verlander 7. Beckett 7. Lackey 9. Burnett Thoughts? |

Burnett's not on the same level as any of the pitchers on your list. Only Cem would disagree with me.
Why would we ever PH for Varitek? I mean, what if we PH for him, and it goes to extras, and vic martinez gets eaten by
dinosaurs? We'd have to use the emergency catcher.
