So, I would have preferred the Pedroia to short-Hudson at second scenario, but I guess we have to accept it. I would have liked to get a few draft picks for Wagner, Bay, go after low market, then have a 2005 like draft. Obviously, this is only the beginning of a very interesting off-season.

Gag me with a spoon. What a terrible deal. And what's the rush -- I could understand a rush to get the unfettered Hudson and move Pedroia, but was major
league baseball really lined up and knocking down Scutaro's door?
Mark my words, next June or July this forum is going to be gnashing their teeth over this move, and Scutaro is going to be blocking the potentially serious SH Jed Lowrie from getting any kind of shot to show what he can do, even if he is healthy. |

if it is indeed for 3 guaranteed years, the redsox must have no confidence in Lowrie as a full time SS. One could argue that he could shift over to 3B when
Lowell leaves though. They also must not expect Iglesias to be ready for a full time job until at least the 3rd year of the contract

Looks like it happened. I hope this meens a couple more type A's. Heres another report.
9:26pm: A report from Venezuelan outlet Lider, passed along by Jorge Arangure of ESPN Deportes (via Twitter), claims that Scutaro has signed with the Red Sox. However, there is no additional confirmation at this time. |
