This team as a whole doesn't deserve to win right now. There are a few players who have played their heart out but this team has done nothing to show they

Paps doesn't deserve this grief. Yes, he coughed it up today, and I suspect some people that commented during the season that he wasn't the same
pitcher this year as he was in prior years aren't too surprised. But he had given up no runs of his own in the playoffs until today, so if he didn't
have it this time, so be it. Maybe this experience will convince him that he needs to come back next year as more of a multipitch pitcher. He needs to get his
slider and/or splitter working consistently again.

Papelbon deserves the grief. He was the most dominant closer in the game, and he has tweaked himself into a much lesser pitcher.
He tweaked his deliver, he began falling in love with his new slider, he abandoned the splitter. Look at him now. |
