Good Preview... thank you..
Kalish is really one of the most interesting prospects in the Sox system. He still sits inside the top 10 on this site despite his lack of development and lack of statistical data. This must speak volumes about his actual talent level. Potentially what type of players, assuming he fullfils his promise are we looking at here? Some of the questions about him are is he a center fielder or a right fielder? Leadoff hitter or will he develop enough power to move towards the middle of the order. I find him so fascinating because of the unknowns. At this point we don't really even have a great idea as to what he needs to improve on from what i can gather. It's all about developing power and showing he's healthy, etc.
I look at someone like Reddick and worry about the giant hole in his game, being overly aggressive, and wonder if that will lead to his down fall. What is Kalish's potential hold back? Is it power? Does he not have enough speed to offset have minimal power? Is the hope that he'll develop into a perennial 20/20 guy, with a good OBP and defense?
I started this thread to gain more information about Ryan from people that have seen him and to hopefully provide a place to go throughout the season to see people's updates on him. This is a year of transition (hopefully) in the RS system as far as i'm concerned. There is a plethora of talent that is raw and years away from the majors. Throughout this season we could see a lot of growth and the picture of who's the "next wave" should become clearer. There are some names that really stand out, to me, as players to watch that could take giant leaps and Kalish is one of them.
