I'm two hours due east of For Myers, and I can confirm that the games are indeed being rained out, this has been the wettest June I have seen down here in
six years. There is no truth to the speculation that the games are actually being played, but milb.com simply displays "Postponed" because they are
in fact still too lazy to post box scores.
"Pedroia thinks he's yet to see a pitcher that he thinks is any good," Murphy said. "That's his secret. He's 5-foot-6, balding, can't run, can't throw, he's weak, and it's true. But he believes that he's as strong and as big and as fast as anybody."

I love that Gibson and Westmoreland can go a combined 0-6 in the Lowell game yet still score 5 runs.

Gammons did that puff piece talking about how few balls he was throwing. His walks totals this year are not bad 2.75 BB/9 25 BB in 82 IP that doesn't sound like a nibbler, and for sure if he's nibbling it's a change from early reviews and maybe due to losing some command pitching out of the wind up for the first time? Don't think Dice-K on him just yet |

Thank you Temple for posting the YouTube videos of some of the action from yesterday's Spinners' game. It was great to see Almanzar get three hits
(each of them were looping hits), but I could see how he is going to need a lot of work on his swing which needs to be cut down a lot.
Poorest spending of $3 million that I have ever seen.-fcastig 0220

The times I've listened to Tazawa games, the announcers have used the words inside or outside corner quite often and you can't usually guess what's
coming by the count. That usually indicates a pitcher that sets up batters for a particular pitch by using the entire zone, not just throwing strikes but
locating strikes. Your prototypical command and control pitcher as opposed to a dominance pitcher. IMO, it's the pitching style of Lester, Smoltz (post
closer), Bowden, Kelly & Pimentel, not just Dice-K. Beckett, Wake (believe it or not), Penny & Buchholz and virtually all our relievers are dominance
pitchers. You can hear the difference in pitching styles by listening to the announced locations.
Categorizing all command and control pitchers together is no more useful than categorizing all dominance pitchers together. There's an equally wide quality range for either style. Most posters are dominance pitcher fans but I prefer c & c. Maybe Kelly might change a few opinions. |

I find it interesting that the Lowell recap lists 2 of Almanzar's 3 hits as groundballs, when they were all clearly hit in the air.

I once lost a bet on who would have the highest season SLG% because of a scorer. The guy I had a bet with had a clear error ruled a double in the last game of
the season and it was the margin of victory.
It was amateur baseball and normally not something you would remember but in this case, the bet was who was going to ask a hot chick named Brin out after she lost her loser boyfriend. The other guy won, she broke up with her bf and he took her out. A year later they got married. Did I mention that she was hot, very hot ? Oh yeah, the official scorer was the other guys mother. I hate official scorers. |
