Pitched and played 1B for the World Wood Bat Association (WWBA) team Georgia Roadrunners since the summer of 2005 alongside 2009 draftee Luke Bailey (Donovan Tate also played for this team.) while winning a national championship in 2005 with the U-16 team.

Appeared on the 2007 Baseball Youth National Team.

3-time All-Conference Selection in High School; named conference POY in 2008.

He went 1-3, with an RBI single and a IBB while scoring two runs in his team's final game of the Regional playoffs on May 31, 2009.

Tennessee coach Todd Raleigh has known Cody since he was a young boy and is close to the family and thinks he is worth first-round money. His instinct is that Cody will fulfill his commitment to Tennessee.

"I'll probably hear the Red Sox out and see what happens," said Stubbs, who got calls and/or texts from his father, his Atlanta-based advisor, a Tennessee coach and a Red Sox representative while driving to graduation.

Asked about his emotions, Stubbs said: "It's a whirlwind because I'm about to graduate high school. I guess I feel mixed and confused. But it's definitely good. It's exciting. It's definitely an honor to be drafted especially by the Boston Red Sox. It's kind of funny because I decided to wear red and blue to graduation, and how that worked out, I don't really know."

It seems like he will be a tough sign. Pre-draft, it seems like it could've been hard for the RS to get info on his signability:

The family has an Atlanta-based advisor, and Cody's father Cam Stubbs said that they're not telling MLB teams a round, dollar figure or combination would entice the younger Stubbs to forego his college career.

Stubbs has plus power and a quick swing, but he's raw. He needs work around the bag and more at-bats.

Both of Stubbs' parents were athletes at Vanderbilt.

Those close to Stubbs have generally told him that he would expect to get drafted much higher with three years of college ball experience as he continues to fill out.
