However, if you find solid information on a player drafted by the Red Sox, it can be added to the Draft Day II Thread, which is limited exclusively to player info (no discussion). Draft Day is always a big day around here, and we anticipate having a record number of visitors. Draftee info will be continuously updated on the Draft History Page and on the Blog as the day goes along. A *Draft Signings Thread* will be opened later in the week. Nationals: San Diego State righthander Stephen Strasburg. 2. Mariners: North Carolina first baseman Dustin Ackley. 3. Padres: Georgia HS outfielder Donavan Tate. 4. Pirates: Boston College catcher Tony Sanchez. 5. Orioles: California HS righthander Matt Hobgood. 6. Giants: Georgia HS righthander Zack Wheeler. 7. Braves: Vanderbilt lefthander Mike Minor. 8. Reds: North Carolina righhander Alex White. 9. Tigers: ??? 10. Nationals: Stanford righthander Drew Storen. At No. 9, Tigers are deciding whether to spend big (California HS lefthander Tyler Matzek, Missouri HS righty Jacob Turner), smaller (Texas HS righty Shelby Miller) or a little smaller (Arizona State RHP Mike Leake). At No. 11 the Rockies will take the most signable high school pitcher, and Arizona State righthander Mike Leake is not in the equation. *** No. 11 could be Chad James, Garrett Gould or Shelby Miller. The first two should sign for slot money.

Veteran Member Posts: 94 06/09/09 6:01 PM	Someone posted a question in the other thread about what time the Red Sox would pick and the response was 7:30 - 8:00. Keep in mind this isn't like the NFL or NBA draft where teams take the entire amount of time in case they are blown away by a trade offer at the last minute. Should help draw more athletes to BC and create a bigger market for college sports in New England, along with the success of the hockey teams. But, anyway, back to the all-to-predictable 2009 MLB draft. They need to move this thing along. Selig sounds like he's had a stroke.
