Somewhat following in the Sausage King's footsteps here, this thread is pretty obvious. Similar guidelines as last year. With the short sample sizes of
both hitters and pitchers thus far, my friendly disclaimer to you is that these are somewhat premature, since there aren't a lot of promotions that happen
up to this point. So here we have it, players who could get promoted relatively soon:
Pawtucket to Boston:
Clay Buchholz (8.67 K/9, 0.81 WHIP, 0.33 HR/9): A Buchholz spot-start could be a wise decision on two regards. One, it creates more rest for a rotation that's been less than stellar. Two, if he pitches well, he'll earn a spot in the rotation by pushing Masterson to the bullpen.
Portland to Pawtucket:
Dustin Richardson (11.84 K/9, .156 BAA, 4.74 H/9): Following up a strong HWL up this season after being converted to a reliever.
Salem to Portland:
Derrick Loop (21/10 K/BB in 21.7 IP, 62.7% GB rate, 2 XHBa): Pitching well, albeit against younger hitters. Shouldn't need much more time proving he's ready for Portland.
Kyle Fernandes (0.97 WHIP, 11 K looking): Spent some time in Portland last year, fooling hitters with delivery.
Greenville to Salem:
Bryan Price (8.37 K/9, 0.96 WHIP, .320 SLGa): Does not need to be wasting time facing Sally League hitters.
Armando Zerpa (5.00 K/BB, .241 OPSa, 1.72 H/9): Similar to Price, too advanced for Low-A.
End-note: This list does not include rehabbing players in XST who could be activated soon.
