Boo whoever you want, LeBron shouldn't have gotten so much hate for leaving Cleveland either. What he did wrong was how he treated the Cavaliers organization and broke the news of his decision. Leaving Cleveland is something I would hope everyone has the opportunity to do, especially LeBron.

If he did it like every other free agent in basketball history, people in Cleveland would still be upset, but 99% of the city wouldn't despise him and immediately start burning jerseys. Albert's situation is completely different, he won multiple championships, and he went out on a high note. Plus, the St. Louis fan is much different than the Cleveland fan. Apples and oranges imo.

Unfortunately, when you are a big-budget team whose fans constantly clamor for those sorts of acquisitions (in 2011, see: Darvish, Yu; Buerhle, Mark), you're probably going to miss on many, perhaps even most of those contracts. Conversely, when you're the Rays and your biggest FA contract is Johny Damon, you tend not to give out too many terrible contracts.
