Don't see the Sox adding 17 million/yr to the payroll...plus luxury tax implications associated with a Wilson acquisition....which could amount to another 6-7 million...if all the salary were over the limit (and it might be given other potential acquisitions).

As to purported Kalish or Reddick interest from the Nationals for either Detwiler or Balester....that does not cut it. I don't see either of those guys better than Doubront or Weiland. I would love to have both Reddick and Kalish on the 40 man. Let Kalish prove he is healthy in AAA and give Josh a chance...with Kuddyer as the RH compliment. That would be the extent of my work (other than the BP) until the trade deadline. By then we would have some better view of low-priced guys like Kalish and Reddick and they will have had an opportunity to establish trade value (low at present). If one wants to throw one of them in to acquire Gio, well fine. Reddick is a personal favorite.

I am all for 'sacrificing' a year to let the farm system and youngsters grow, lower the penalty for luxury tax implications and ready for next year's free agent class.

I hope the Sox spend their available bucks on one or more of Soler, Darvish and Cespedes.
