Yirm, if hosting the wildcard is equivalent to opening up @ NYY or PHIL ... then those games are meaningless. Someone might have thought that since CLE & PITT haven't played anything but exhibition games for a couple weeks that they could have re-arranged their rotation to use the minor leaguers over the past weekend.

ARIZ has tiebreaker over MIL (for #2 seed)
STL over ATL (homefield in 1-game playoff)

DET has tiebreaker over TEX (for #2 seed)
TB over Sox (homefield in 1-game playoff)

the fact that leyland put verlander on the mound with the forcast the way it was ..... sickening. he could have held he over until SAT and then he would have been available for game 5 on normal rest. Leyland burned his best chance for what? ONE INNING! With the forecast, he could have stuck a middle relief guy in there for an inning .... Same with Sabathia.

TB and TEX each had a chance to pull their starter after 60 pitches with the score 8-0 ... and bring them back in game 4. Now, Moore will not get another start in the series and Holland & Wilson: one of them will get a second start in game 5, but Wilson could have gone in game 4. Just an alternative scenario that was not taken by the managers.

i think NYY gets the call on starting it. Umpires can only stop it after it stops.

all I get on radio for the playoffs is 1410AM which is susan waldman yankee voice. there has got to be an espn affilliate somewhere in the CT - springfield area ...... anybody listening to any game anywhere else on the dial?

no way can i listen to sterling and waldman for more than 14 minutes.
