Both motivated with Phillies and Giants having struck and Texas circling Bell. Imagine if the Yankees are highly motivated, they wind up with him as their pitching matches up better than ours and that seems to be what the Rockies are looking for.

I would say no. If he is pushed, I would certainly expect a deal to be done within hours but I can see them pitching him tomorrow and still dealing him at the deadline on Sunday. It isn't like the playoffs start Monday and the team trading him would need him fresh immediately. Would be a benefit but I don't think it is a sign unless he gets pulled.

His command was clearly off tonight (whose wouldn't be after a month off), but his fastball sat at 92mph, and his curve looked as good as ever (to the untrained eye at least), and if anything he'll come even cheaper after tonight. Assuming he's healthy come playoff time I wouldn't have any problem handing him the ball.

I guess it all depends on the price, but I just don't think that is an assumption you can make with great certainty. If Ubaldo doesn't wind up in Boston and Clay is shut down, maybe try and get him through the waiver wire as he is a better option than Wakefield/Miller for the #4 spot.

The thing that makes it the most unlikely is that there is no pitcher going the other way unless it's Ranaudo as teh PTBNL but they wanted major league ready pitching which he isn't even close to. Also would the sox really part with Reddick in any trade right now that wasn't for an outfielder? I'd like to get it done with some Weiland, Doubront, Lars + action.
