His BB% is decent and a K% in the 16s isn't bad either. He's not chasing pitches as his O-Swing% is 24%. Do you think his plate discipline has matured this season?

I did my best to ignore your response the first time, but its too much of me to have to ignore it twice. This will just get archived anyway as a game thread, so who cares.Clearly, I did not argue that the Red Sox shouldn't extend Ellsbury, and clearly I did not argue that this isn't a ripe subject for discussion. That would be stupid. So, to argue against that is a strawman. What I did argue - and what I'll continue to point out - is that the angst that comes with constantly bitching about the failure of the Red Sox to have signed Ellsbury is annoying when being a fan could be more fun (and certainly is for me) by just enjoying his freakin' good play. I like being happy when watching the Red Sox. Its entertainment that I enjoy. Yet, for a very large part of the Red Sox fan base (which I never observed when I was a living in other cities watching other fans, though I'm sure its true to some degree) there is a constant need to find something to harp about, something to be negative about, even when the Red Sox experience success. When they don't, there is a constant need in the fan base - a large need - to point out the end is nigh, as if there is a collective forgetfulness that the Red Sox play (get this!) 162 games. I hate this constant negative outlook on all things sports. It isn't how I grew up, I don't see how its enjoyable, and I don't see the point. I've been reading posters like Temple for something crazy like a decade (I read the old primer therapy threads when Jim still posted and before our Kevin18 [or whatever] was banned from one of the most tolerant sports boards out there), so I can read sarcasm and read frustration as simply a bump in the road - I understand context. I don't respond everytime someone mimics Temple's turirble exclamations. Others, however, I see as representatives of that negative nelly who revels in days gone by, when futility could be counted on and was almost revered. And it annoys me. Everything has context and I was responding to my frustration with seeing this conversation play out for the fifteenth time. This is one of the best cores in baseball and is around for three years with just about all the players in their primes. Enjoy it. Its a good ride.
