Just for the record, I've been trying to avoid box score things, I'm really reposting the tweets with scouting info.

Example, the other day, Brenz HR, hit very hard but to me the key to the tweet was that the FB he hit was above his eyes. Lord knows, it's a rare talent to be able to square up high heat, something few major league power hitters can do, on the other hand, what the hell is he doing swinging at something above his eyes ? Today, hitting the ball hard, swinging from his heels. To me, early season but giant red flags. Reddick has a talent, he can rifle balls six inches off the plate down the third base line, where's that getting him ?

Example in contrast. Jacobs, hits hard line drives. Also tweeted about a long AB the other day. He's drawing a lot of walks. Sounds like a hitter waiting for something he can drive then actually driving it. Kalish did that. Where's that getting him compared to Reddick?

If you notice, I didn't tweet anything about Garcia's two lazy fly HRs, in the grand scheme of things, that's not his game but the box scores have them equal.

Ranaudo. First pitch 95 MPH. (gun as I wrote yesterday is I believe 1-2 fast). Interim comment about his curveball that hitters AND umps were having problems with it. Understandable, read Mellon's preview. Why wouldn't a low A umpire have problems with a curve that drops off the table late, sometimes into the dirt. How many of those has he seen ? Later, interim pitch counts with relatively low strike ratio's. It matched. It also match the GB/FO numbers that were a part of the tweet. They can't touch his curve and he's not getting the calls so they're trying to hit the FB, an inordinate amount of flyouts for that type of pitcher. Last inning, a 16 pitch inning. He gave up a double then hit a batter. FB velocity down to 91. It's his first start, he ran out of gas. He didn't have that problem last summer in the cape league.

The mass numbers for the starters and for the extra base hit percents and thus slugging components tell the story of the season so far. Both unsustainable but both awesome numbers when put into the context of the three games. Was it the opposition ? Time will tell.
