I agree. I look for Hoyer to hold onto him at least till the deadline. Get a feel of the organization and their needs before he deals him. Heck they finished last year on fire and could be competitive for all I know. Thats why im leaning against Beltre unless we get him at a bargin on a 2 year deal.

Cameron keeps the seat warm for Kalish, who many think has leadoff potential, and in the meantime we go with Scutaro at leadoff. Then we get to keep Clay in our stellar rotation. As for the pairing with Ellsbury, maybe Westy, Bowden, Kotchman?

I mean just by definition a good pitcher is suppose to be hard to hit which means people don't succeed against them all that often.

I haven't heard anything of the sort, but I could have just missed it. I would be totally in favor of including Ellsbury in a trade for Adrian Gonzalez or Hanley Ramirez or Joey Votto, etc. But it would have nothing to do with disliking Ellsbury.

Sorry, that was too strong of a statement. Maybe "lost favor" wasn't the correct phrase. I just think they grade him out as an expendable piece of the overall puzzle.

I think Theo LOVES Jacoby. I don't think Theo is looking at one year of Ellsbury's UZR and drawing large conclusions. I don't think Theo is looking at UZR. Theo has said publicly that he thinks Jacoby can be a good center fielder and that he believes he will continue to improve his hitting. In short, not only do I think your comments are pure speculation, but my speculation is that you are very wrong. This is not to say they won't trade him for the right price, but I absolutely think they value him highly.

He took more pitches and had a much better OBP in the second half. That went a long way to endearing himself to the Sox FO. Again, I agree that they may still trade him in the right deal. And Union, "Westmoreland could probably break the roster in mid 2011 (he is projected as arriving in 2013, but there is no reason to think he couldn't play as a 21 year old)." Seriously? I really don't want them to trade Westy and think he has awesome potential. But projecting him to break into the Boston in 2011 at age 21 after 3/4 of a short season stint with Lowell is foolish.

For the most part, I take Theo's comments with a grain of salt. He keeps his true opinions close to the vest. I didn't mean to insinuate that the Sox have a low value of him, I just meant to say that he quite possibly is expendable. I love Ellsbury, he has been someone I have followed since he was drafted. If I am in fact very wrong, I will admit it. I'm just speculating that when Theo looks at his team and views the opportunity cost of potential transactions, I don't see Ellsbury as the one who gets in the way of a deal being completed.
