And all the Sox writers tweet the same thing.

Edes writes that Kelly could pitch in the high minors in 2010.

Its fantastic that he was given the choice and chose to be a SP (according to Amelie). Good leaders let people make the right decisions, while being a bit of a
noodge here and there.

He made the right decision here. He was on the fast track to the big leagues had he become a full time pitcher and he chose the right path. Good for him.

THANK THE LORD! Alright... we have all the pitching prospects we could ever need so I hope that this past years draft will produce some major league bats.
Thank you Casey for making the right decision; with a little push from upper management, that is.

Very glad to see Casey made this choice, it was almost a no-brainer and he now may be off the table in trade talks. Glad Casey was the one to reach this
decision instead of having it thrust upon him.

Seems like a mature kid. It appears that he would rather play every day, but realizes that's not really the right decision, so he went the other way and
did what looks best for his long-term future.

Nobody outside of the room knows what happened and there's a lot of speculation here. Let's all just assume Casey begged Theo to pitch and Theo
acquiesced. Life is so much simpler that way.

The Casey Kelly news cycle is hard to keep up with. Are we still mad at him for something he never did or have we moved on?

Trade Value | #98 | ||

Now that Casey Kelly has decided to pitch fulltime, his trade value has had to increase substantially.
The question is now that Kelly decided on pitching, does this increase the chances that he will be traded? Or does Theo now consider him even more untouchable since the Red Sox are getting what they want? Recently I was all right with trading him with his future position in question, but now that he has decided to pitch full time I think we should make him and Westmoreland untouchable. I could see Kelly having a career like Tim Hudson.

Our long National nightmare has finally ended.
Does this mean Theo can't deal this guy now in a package for Josh Johnson, Roy Halladay or Felix Hernandez? Even more of an opportunity to maximize the hype because now he can be sold as "committed to pitching." Don't get me wrong - he seems like a great prospect, but the #2 at best ceiling has me thinking if you can use him and a couple (for Halladay) or four to five (Johnson, Felix) other minor league chips to get a #1 leverage may never be higher. |

I don't think Theo was going to trade him right now for Halladay anyway. This whole SS thing was never much of a concern for me, he needs to be stretched
out this year so it's good we don't have to worry about this whole hitting thing. In the end, he had to realize he'd make a lot more money as a
pitcher.
