I remember why I didn't like doing squats. I think they are a fantastic exercise but my body just isn't designed for it. My long torso throws off my center of balance so I end up having to lean forward more and when I go to stand, I feel a bit of a strain on my lower back. It basically turns into a Good Morning lift, which is OK with lower weights but you don't want to be doing that with your max squat weight. I'm going to try doing front squats with the lifting log because I just couldn't get a comfortable handle with the bar for a front squat. The most comfortable I have ever been has been doing squats with kettlebells. They sit right in the rack position and in the front so I can keep my spine neutral.
Is there a specific reason you are doing so many reps of the clean? Is it by design to improve your endurance? One of my friends, to bust his plateaus, is doing like 20 reps for several sets and he said it is insane. He's only benching like 135 during those sets but he said it's amazing how he is feeling now. mahalo
