This almost off-sets the Wagner signing today. |

I'm happy that these guys are moving up to better jobs.
However, the Sox should have set a limit on Hoyer raiding the organization before paying some compensation. What's next? Is McLeod now going to pick off our scouts? |

Here's to hoping they find someone better than Sawdaye to replace him with.

I love Sawdaye - so, with a ton of bias in my heart, I write: screw you!

I had the opportunity to talk with Jason numerous times at Cape League games, at Fenway Park, even this past June at a Paw Sox game in Durham, NC which Clay B.
started. He was always pleasant, patient, informed, honest, and asked good questions. I know the New England winters were not his family's favorite season
so I am not surprised he is going to San Diego, however it is a loss for the organization.

I've not heard much about Sawdaye, so do you have any basis for your comments TGG? If he's done a good job under McLeod, then I'm all for promoting
from within. He must know the drafting philosophy as well as anyone else in the front office.

How could anyone possibly know if Sawdaye is or isn't fit for the job?
The only thing I know about him is that I love saying his name as if I were shouting "Shawdy!". |

Very big loss for us and a huge gain for San Diego. But its a step up for him and he likely wants to be a GM one day of his own team so I can't fault him
for this move.
I'll be there, watching the Sox representation of mid-rotation starters. -TheGoldenGreek33 on Casey Kelly

The scouts will be raided eventually, obviously.

He's always been the on the business/marketing/organizing side of things and he wouldn't be who I'd want as my Scouting Director. By all means,
he's been great there. He was the brain child behind the Fenway Summer Classic, which is a great opportunity to get to know the kids. But, as far as
scouting goes, I don't think he has enough experience in the field.

I find it hard to believe that you know how much experience he actually has in the field enough to make such an assessment. |

Sawdaye has held the position of Assistant Scouting Director since December 2004.

Yes, Mike, I'm well-aware of that. Do you know what an ASD does?
Hint: It doesn't involve player evaluating. |

Can the Red Sox go after any of the Tampa Bay Ray scouts? |

Why would we ever PH for Varitek? I mean, what if we PH for him, and it goes to extras, and vic martinez gets eaten by
dinosaurs? We'd have to use the emergency catcher.

I see Sawdaye at games over the course of the summer. Usually taking notes on something, timing a player with a stopwatch, etc. He's around the game.
