One gets the sense that even the umpires are impacted by the absurdity of it all. It's the friggin' World Series and on one side you have the $250M machine Team ATM with a multi-millionaire star in almost every position, and on the other hand the Phillies are starting a 38-year old kook who can barely see the high 80s on his fastball, while their crypt-keeping manager has to decide which utterly fungible relief arm to throw the wolves. I am half expecting Victorino to be replaced in CF by Gil's anxiety-ridden son Kevin from "Parenthood" while Pee Wee Herman chases Hank Steinbrenner across the infield screaming at him to return his bike. I mean obviously there is a lot of talent on this Phillies team but man, can they clown it up.
