This is Jason Grey and his Espn AFL blog
http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4619071&name=grey_jason If you're a pitcher on the Mesa squad, you're lobbying to have Florida Marlins third baseman Matt Dominguez and Boston Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias man the left side of the infield when you take the hill. Both are the best I've seen in the minors defensively at their respective positions this seasonAlso he says this about Iglesias. The ball just doesn't go anywhere when Iglesias squares it up, and I haven't gotten a plus running time on him |

So, his 400 foot shot a couple weeks ago didn't go anywhere? I see Jason Grey has been spending a lot of time with KLaw lately.

"The ball just doesn't go anywhere when he squares it up"
That's a definitive statement, and clearly not the case. One home run or ten, SSS doesn't apply here because Jason said it doesn't go anywhere. As in, ever. |

It's called hyperbole, Greek. Obviously the ball goes SOMEWHERE when he squares it up (what's it going to do? Fall directly to the ground in front of
the plate?). It's just a way of saying that he doesn't have much power, which isn't really breaking news in the first place.

Dustin Richardson elected to the AFL
all-star team. Congrats go out to him.
Haha, wow, way late on that one. I do read the blog and the thread (as evidenced by many other useless posts I've made), so.... don't know how I missed it. Rising Stars is a much more descriptive title/name too.

Aside from the one "freak" outing from Dustin he has been great. Got thrown in after the Sox tied it up in the top of the 9th and imploded. I can see
him being a significant part in the sox bullpen by mid season

Iglesias, he-who-has-no-power, did hit another home run today while driving in five runs. I'm sure it's just the desert air...

Good to see that the two guys struggling in the Mesa lineup (Iglesias and Dominguez) had big nights last night.
A little deeper, it does seem like Iglesias is still being "extremely aggressive" in his AB's. In order last night: first pitch ground out first pitch homer first pitch ground out 4 pitch strikeout first pitch ground out. Just one night, of course, and he's starting out at a high level.....still plenty of time to rein in that aggressiveness.......

I'm sure that's at the top of the Sox' to-do list for the kid. Good to remember that he's a 19 year-old with little experience outside of the
Caribbean. What is it they say in the Dominican? Nobody ever walked off the island? I'd hope that just by being around a guy like Kalish, the patience
might start to rub off. It can't be lost on him that his teammate is high up in the system at this point.
