I was not a big fan of Venus v. Mars, but i really liked On To the Next One. Just because it had the Justice sample in the background. Im not saying Venus v.
Mars is bad. Its just not my favorite song. I particularly like Jockin Jay-Z, mainly because of this performance. That was back on the
glow in the dark tour, the first ever performance of the song. It was at MSG. I like Kanye as a produce a lot too. The songs Timbaland produced on that album I
did not like as much as the other songs.

I have this program called Mojo, it is the same format as aim except you can view your friends I tunes and download there music. But you can get it from this
link too, Beemp3. Beemp3 is where I get most of my
music from, I have a mac and it doesnt but a virus or make my computer slower at all. You dont have to download a program or anything. You just right click and
hit download linked file. I just learned that it was intended for the album but was not used.

Bad Brains, Angry Samoans, The Cows? I guess I am missing more than I thought by skipping over this thread that was certain to piss me off.
EDIT: Just skimmed back through and saw Rancid, Minor Threat, Suicide Machines, LTJ, the Bosstones, OpIvy, Bouncing Souls as well...wow. I take back all the bad thoughts I had about the people posting in this thread. Sorry, I guess it pays to read.

Between the Buried & Me's new album "The Great Misdirect" came out yesterday. They are easily the most talented band in existence. Buy it,
Victory Records.
I am speechless. ...this site is not intended to be a place where you post every ridiculous and half-formed thought that comes into your head.

Chach,
Listen to any more blues lately? I've been on an Albert Collins fix for about the last week. You ever get past John Lee Hooker? I can't say I blame you if you haven't, man. mahalo ~tgg~ |

Please. Enlighten us as to why he sucks. The man has won eight Grammy's and has been nominated for 30. He's easily a top five Emcee of all-time, and
that's being conservative.

You're right, personal taste and/or album sales would be a much better measure.

Is there any doubt that Phish isn't the most important band fo the 90s? I don't think so.

I would think using things like musical publications reviews is a better gauge of a band/ act's talent in their field. Using sales or something like the
Grammy's will just lead you to look at the billboard sales chart and determine the "best" act in a genre is the one who sold the most or who
exploded on the scene the loudest. At least people who review music for a living are a slightly better judge of
talent in a genre that they have or even groups of musical historians that can look back and come to some type of group conclusion. Of course in the end it
means nothing because judging art or music is all about personal preference and anybody who disagrees is basically envoking their inner 4 year old and telling
others what they like is not good. The debate at SOSH on Bill Simmons and the how to judge something based on what said thing is trying to accomplish is
really the crux here. I'm sure you can safely say that Jay-Z has been one of the best at accomplishing what he set out to accomplish. You may dislike the
music, but that simple fact is hard to argue.
Like I said, I have no feelings on the matter of Jay-Z's musical exploits or talent, to be as successful as he has been he's obviously got immense talent, I just thought using the Grammy's was a bit odd there. |
