Lucic is gonna miss 4-6 weeks with a broken finger. This was exactly what I thought about when we signed him to a very rich extension. He plays way too
recklessly to not miss 10+ games per year.

If the Bruins can play .500 hockey over the next month-plus, then that's got to be considered a victory. Seriously, check out Fluto's possible lineup
for tonight (Thornton out as well):
Marco Sturm-Patrice Bergeron-Michael Ryder Vladimir Sobotka-David Krejci-Blake Wheeler Daniel Paille-Trent Whitfield-Mark Recchi Brad Marchand-Steve Begin-Byron Bitz Zdeno Chara-Derek Morris Andrew Ference-Dennis Wideman Mark Stuart-Matt Hunwick Tim Thomas Tuukka Rask

I guess that explains the Paille deal. The top 2 lines still look fairly decent, but man is that 3rd line awful. We're really going to need some of those
younger guys to have the break outs we've been hoping for.

On a positive note, I'm happy for Patrice. He might get to play with some real offensive talent.

tdrowe wrote: I'd like to see Bergeron step up as well and show he's capable of being a Top 2 Line center production wise. His defensive skills and above average skill as a face-off man make it easy to put him out there in every situation. Last season, there was the coming back from injury factor and the team relying on him more for his defense. Now, with the composition of the team and the injuries, it is time to for the Top 6 forward production to resurface, regardless of who he skates with. All systems should be go during this month stretch for him to produce offensively. |

Sick comeback tonight. Has the ship turned around?
Krejci seemed to release a lot of frustration with his goal tonight. Hopefully this is a game of transition for him. Also, I'd feel a million times better about this team if we got the PP going soon. It's lacking energy, focus, and of course, results.

I'd feel a lot better about the power play if they'd quit dicking around with the puck at the blue line. It's the same thing they did when they
went into the funk towards the end of last season.

The powerplay looks right now like back circa the Jason Allison era. Stagnant, slow, hesitant, overpasses. Nothing bothers me more than how we play with the
powerplay these days.

No Marc Savard and no Lucic. The PP should look pretty sucky. Fortunate for us we have picked up 5 points in 3 games. Plus Toronto hasn't one yet.

B's absolutely stole 3 points last night from the jaws of a goose-egg. Timmy Thomas is going to have to carry this team for the next month or so, and he
played like he was capable at times last night - a few of those saves were unreal, although that third goal wasn't great.

The shorthanded goals against have been troubling for the PP too. Besides the lack of generating enough offense through the point men, they have also made bad
decisions which have lead to clean break-ins for forwards. Chara and Wideman were huge on the PP last season, and have yet to get going so far. Chara lead
the team with 11 PP goals and Wideman racked up 19 PP assists, which was only 2 less than Savard. The B's don't overload that much on the PP and
generate everything off the half-boards to the point. Thus far, the point men haven't been able to get the puck through or take advantage of clean looks.
Morris is a good addition, in my opinion, and even though it wasn't a true PP situation, the type of plays he made from the point to set-up the goals last
night are exactly what they need on the PP from the points to get the production going.

With Toronto in the tank and likely to stay there pretty much the entire year its going to be pretty awesome should the Bruins win the draft lottery. I'd
love to see Taylor Hall in a Bruins jersey for the next decade plus.

Cem21 wrote: Carolina killed them with this in the playoffs last year. They packed bodies into the slot and allowed the Bruins D to shoot from the point on the PP, but hardly anything was getting through. As a result, the PP became completely disjointed and was never a weapon. At some point, they have to start running some kind of sets from the corners, either an iso or a pick play, to start generating chances. They don't have to do it great, but they have to do it enough to make the penalty kill units respect it and open the points back up again. On the SHG's, it seems like they've been really lazy with the puck for a lot of the season. On the PP, it's lazy passes back to the points without really checking if the lane is available. In their own zone, they give the puck up a lot or make poor breakout passes. I'm not sure why that is or how to really fix it, other than simply playing better.

Lippa91 wrote:This is beyond frustrating. I watch the Bruins make laods of poor breakout passes and then see the other team keep getting rush after rush. I mean our D-men's' passing really isn't that much worse compared to the rest of the league, is it? Got the best buy in a Bruins 3rd Jersey for $39.99 at Marshalls. Don't know how the hell they were selling at that price.

Time to move the draft picks for some guys who can put the puck in the net. There are too many high salaries on this team taking up space and not producing
right now.

Ryder and Sturm are two of the culprits. But this is team is still missing two players of its top line in Savard and Lucic. Defensively they have gotten better
but they are just brutal offensively.
