The better move was to stick with Weaver. He was filthy in the 8th last night, his curve was breaking big he was changing speeds on his FB with good movement
and location, there was absolutely no reason to take him out other than because Fuentes has the "closer" designation.

I hope this post-season makes the rest of the world realize that Scoscia is not a good manager.
I am speechless. ...this site is not intended to be a place where you post every ridiculous and half-formed thought that comes into your head.
... You should post less. - AMarshal2

I feel the need to make a declaration: after watching last night's game, I will never complain about Tito again. If I do, you guys can choose my new sig.
Why would we ever PH for Varitek? I mean, what if we PH for him, and it goes to extras, and vic martinez gets eaten by
dinosaurs? We'd have to use the emergency catcher.

Leo Durocher was a pretty smart cookie, but he was wrong here. This has been discussed previously. When you are in a win or go home situation and need to win
multiple games, your best move is the one that gives you the highest overall chances of winning ALL the games you need to win -- which may not be the same
strategy as the one that maximizes your chances of winning the current game. Because it doesn't matter whether you lose this game or a future one you need
to win, you're done either way.

I think that the one inning was done to allow Weaver to come back for a potential Game 7. If you pitch him more than an inning, you probably lose him as a potential Game 7 starter. Just a guess.I thought of that as well after I posted it but he only threw 11 pitches, I'd imagine another 15 or so pitches wouldn't kill him for a potential Game 7 where all hands are on deck. |

The MFYs are making a big mistake starting Pettitte vs. Sabathia in Game 6. They have a better chance of closing out the Angels in 6 games with Sabathia
pitching and still could have him start game 2 of the World Series. Now if they lose game 6 they have to pitch Sabathia in game 7 and then he won't be
available until game 3 of the World Series. All the pressure is on the MFYs tonight.
P-If Scioscia was smart (which he is not), he won't pitch Fuentes tonight as he can't handle the playoff pressure, particularly in Yankee Stadium.

adiospaydro2005 wrote:I don't agree with that. If they start Sabathia tonight, he'd only be available for two starts in the WS if they make it. At least Pettitte gives them a chance to throw CC three times against the LHB heavy Phillies. Pettitte's no Sabathia, but it's not like they're passing up CC to start Chad Gaudin. |

I don't know if it has been noted here previously, but if the Yankees make the WS, Eric Hinske will be with his third WS team in three years, the Sox, the
Rays and now the Yanks. I wonder if that is a first?

Saunders is such garbage.
Although to be honest I'm having a really tough time being upset about the Angels losing.
