He was removed after being HBP, anyone has an idea if it's serious or not?

A nineteen year-old with a big glove for a reputation, bashing his way through his first two games against what are supposed to be elite minor-leaguers. Lots to be excited about in the early going.

Courtesy of Sox Scout on SoSH, the Iglesias HR came off Josh Stinson, who allowed 1 HR in 78.2 IP this year with 29 BB and 84 K.
editADD: He also was apart of two double play balls (1-6-3, 4-6-3). |

Iglesias has been pretty impressive so far. Granted he only has a handful of PA's, but still, it is encouraging to see the bat there. He is making Argenis
Diaz look pretty obsolete.

Welcome to the site Vermont Sox.
I'll be there, watching the Sox representation of mid-rotation starters. -TheGoldenGreek33 on Casey Kelly

Right, I know. Not like I really cared too much about losing Diaz this summer...but it is great to know that we've got someone that can back up their slick
fielding with some offense (again, it is early).

Wow, Iglesias is showing patience and power? Neither was expected.
Good sign.

SoSH poster "sheshistory" went to the game tonight and got some picture's.
Also, poster "Adirondack jack" attended the game tonight and had this to say about Iglesias: After the beaning he showed some emotion when getting up, staring down the hurler, whom put a 0-2 FB between the shoulder blades, just after he went downs on a first pitch FB (to left center about a 390 ft shot) in his previous AB, in an otherwise laid back game that had a few hundred folk enjoying a ballgame at a park that holds 10k+.

I never concern myself with performance stats in the fall/winter leagues, because many of these players are there to work on specific things rather than
concentrate on doing the best total job that they can. Also, I feel many of the players lose some of their competitive focus in these leagues after a full
season of concentration on doing their best when they really ARE competing within and for their own organization.
So, I would never read anything into an Expo having a bad game, or even an entire "season" down there with little production. And I would never read anything into Iglesias' capabilities or readiness based on his statistics for a few games, or even for the entire "season." After all, he's fresh [and, on the other hand, could also be a little rusty] and this is his first opportunity in this country to impress anybody, so he might be expected to be a little sharper mentally than most of the players in the AFL. The important thing about Iglesias from what he has shown is that he has power AT ALL, which we had no idea about before he actually took the field. How it translates to high minor league performance we have no idea until he takes the field next spring. Just to confirm the hype, I hope to hear about some eye-popping plays on defense from him as well this fall - but in a short season he may have very limited opportunities to impress that way, because of statistical variability if nothing else. |

Nexus wrote: Good news that he is driving the ball 390 feet and is only 175 lbs...I was under the impression he was sort of maxed out frame wise or there wasn't any/much projection. Another 8-10 lbs of muscle, if he can pop 12-15 and play great defense and gradually work on the plate discipline (natural for a 19 y/o...gotta remind myself he could easily be in low-a) he may a stud. |

The pressure is still on Casey Kelly (same team as him) by watching Jose hitting & made the field plays. Either Casey start to hitting or stick with
pitching which is more promise for him in the future as Boston RS. The seats @ AFL still empty as GCL.
