Brady is rusty. The Pats defense of the past few years (2007 especially) has been the explosive offense. The D looked great because Brady forced the other teams to become one dimensional. Even now, the defense hasn't been terrible. Historcially, they really have been a bend but don't break defense under BB. Give up the yards, but not the points. So far, it seems like they break a bit more and give up the points, but it's not unbearable. Just look at the 3rd quarter. If Gaffney didn't get that 3rd and 14 conversion that tipped off two Pats defenders and if Goestkowski made a routine FG, we're staring at 20-7 instead of 17-10. We got the breaks last week, but not this week.

My biggest concern right now is that Brady has been struggling. Not badly, but he's clearly not looking in midseason form. He's missing throws and the timing just seems to be a tick off, which is understandable for a man one year removed from major knee surgery. Once again, I remember a play from the 3rd quarter where he just overthrew Moss on 3rd down. Those plays should start being made later in the year. If not, we'll be a decent playoff team but unlikely to be a legit contender.
