Can those of you that voted for Bates or Richardson give me an honest answer as to why they were the top choice?

I voted Bates because he was such a low level prospect and made it to the bigs this year. Oh Wait Rizzo had a great season coming off cancer...I'm an
idiot.

Nicholas Hagadone. Had TJS and helped fetch us V-Mart. Nice comeback.
Honestly, Rizzo should have been the only option on this poll. |

Ok Maybe I am a heartless bastard, but Comeback player means something different to me. I love Rizzo and am thrilled he came back , but he was doing great
before he left so his Comeback to form was not a surprise. Bates I had completely written off he was passed by Anderson and looked to be MiLB roadkill, he
completely turned it around in Portland and was impressive in his brief stint with the big league club, even with his numbers in Pawtucket which is apparently
where bats go to die. I personally feel he was more of a true "Comeback" diseases and injuries aside.

Brisox wrote:See and I agree, but would have called that a breakout season (see discussion in breakout voting for more info.) I think next year, these two lists need to be clarified more in the title, is breakout about breaking onto the scene, or out of mediocrity or both, and is comeback a comeback from mediocrity or injury or both? |

Definitely does need some clarification. But "comeback" implies that a player is coming back into success. Such as a player returning from major injury/illness, or a promising prospect bouncing back from a very poor
performance the year before. Marginal prospects simply having a very good season, or someone just breaking onto the scene for the first time wouldn't be
comebacks.
My personal view. |

SoxSail, I'm not sure where the confusion comes from. Coming back is returning to a previous level. Breaking out is reaching a level you've never been
at. I'm not sure what's difficult about that.
See my post in the other thread about Bates.
