9/8 ML Gameday Thread: Lowell opens game 1 of the NYPL Playoffs

A+ - Salem - Offday (Playoffs begin Wednesday @ Winston-Salem)
A - Greenville - Offday (Playoffs begin Wednesday @ Asheville)
SS - Lowell - (Jose Alvarez) vs. Staten Island [NYY] (Adam Warren) 7:05 pm

AAA- Pawtucket - Season completed on 9/7. The team finished with a 61-82 record, good for fourth place in the International League North Division, missing the playoffs by 19.5 games.
AA- Portland - Season completed on 9/7. The team finished with a 67-74 record, good for fourth place in the Eastern League Northern Division, missing the playoffs by 5 games.
R - GCL Red Sox - Season completed on 8/31. The team finished with a 26-27 record, good for fourth place in the GCL South Division, missing the playoffs by 7 games for the division.
DSL - DSL Red Sox - Season completed on 8/21. The team finished with a 44-25 record, good for third place in the Boca Chica North Division, missing the playoffs by 2.5 games for the wildcard.

Lowell and Staten Island played six games this year, from July 1-6 in a home-and-home series. The Spinners won all three games at home and SI won all three games at its home. Alvarez and Warren faced each other in the first and last games of that series.

Neil Medchill, who led the NY-Penn Leagyue with 14 home runs, is out of Staten Island's lineup with a tender wrist. According to their manager, he jammed it running into an outfield wall, and he's day-to-day and may see action tomorrow.

I can see the spinner game from my dorm window. It's nearly impossible to see what pitches they are throwing but it's cool anyway.

Damn! Stuck in Chicago on business so I didn't get to see the game... was hoping for a 2nd round game to watch.

I guess they'll just have to win 2 on the road.

I don't think anything will even out this series... Staten Island has 20 players on the roster born in 1987
or before. Greenville doesn't even have that...
