Well I am happy they were able to lock up both Renfroe and Younginer. Hope they could have done it earlier but atleast they are signed.

Not an '09 draft pick, but some of the comments are amusing. There's a definite moral there, in terms of people wanting the Sox F.O. to just 'flex their financial muscle' and just sign every high upside guy. Not comparing Rozier's case/talent/abilities to Kline or any other draft pick, but there is a reason why the Sox set their valuation and don't go above it. I think Rozier flaming out so hard after the bonus he got has a lot to do with the Sox negotiation strategy. |

amfox1 wrote:Given that Kline didn't pitch this summer perhaps the Red Sox decided that he wasn't worth the investment and chose not to make an offer. He made a lot of comments about how strongly he felt about going to college right after he was drafted and then he decided not to pitch this summer. Recent comments led me to believe that he really didn't have a strong commitment to UVa, but rather he was using that "strong college commitment" as a negotiation tactic and the Red Sox chose to spend their money elsewhere. I hope the Red Sox use whatever money is left in their development to go after some strong arms like Dykstra and this board will have a lot of people who will be yelping like a bunch of Wahoos. Good luck Kline. I hope it works out for you.

soxprospects wrote:Wow, that would be a pretty surprising signing, not necessarily from a talent perspective, but due to the fact that he had an injury-plagued college career and had rather unimpressive summer ball stats (14 ER in 9 IP, 3-15 K/BB). The scouting reports on him say he's got a decent fastball so there's a little potential there, but if they did indeed sign him, the Sox must have seen something the stats can't show. |

If anyone hears details in terms of where some of signees will be assigned, or... if they affect other moves (GCL, Lowell, Greenville etc)... that would be awesome "What sort of movie would Rudy have been if he had just stopped and given up after two rejections?

The Rays are having a great signing period. They Inked Glaesmann, Bailey, James, and they supposedly have a deal in place for Malm. The only one it doesnt look
like they will get is their second rounder Kenny Diekroger, who will be going to Stanford. Looks like they will continue to have a good farm system for years
to come even without getting the 1st pick every year.
Impact. Dominate.
