If we gave them anything that could be argued to have a soul, I'm not sure I like it.
Just wanted to say that Singer has disallowed me from posting new topics ever since my Freddy Guzman thread. He seemed very upset about my opinions and was
almost hostile in his responses. He must have been upset about something else, I don't know, it was strange. Anyway, apparently he has deemed me unworthy
of starting new discussions. Do I mind? I do mind, the Dude minds. This will not stand, ya know, this aggression will not stand, man.

Here's to hoping he's our everyday SS for the rest of the year (baring a healthy Lowrie).

Man, when Alex Gonzalez is the solution, you've got a really big problem...
Good pickup I suppose.

I really hope the Sox gave up nothing more than a (take your pick) retread from the Pawsox roster. Imagine the Reds are NOT paying any of his salary and that
the Sox are stuck paying the 1.5-1.75M left this year and 500K buyout on his 2010 option.

Seeing as how none of our SS are hitting a lick this season (including Green recently), it doesn't hurt us offensively relative to where we are now. This
is the kind of news you expect to be announced in conjunction with bad news, or at least indeterminate news, on the Lowrie injury front.
And I agree with you, TGG, it would not be appropriate for Lowrie to play SS in the nude. Better that AGon should be out there. |

Wouldn't be surprised if the Sox moved Chris Duncan in this deal, who's much more easy to trade now that he's off the 40 man. Which would
essentially make it a Lugo-for-Gonzalez swap.

As long as its above-average, I like this move. It improves the area known as "Auto-Hit" alley between third and short.

BP has him at average to just below. But Green is not an option and Woodward is, um, well, yeah. If it is indeed just a cash deal, and I would think it
certainly is, it makes sense. It does sort of smell like the 9th shoe is gonna drop with Lowrie though, which sucks.

Salem is now 2 players short. I'd look for Tejeda or Dent to be promoted to fill one of the spots.

If Kris Negron does not make it to the majors as a player, he will certainly make it as a coach or a manager. He is one of the more mature players and likeable
guys in the Red Sox system, which like all minor league systems, is filled with players who are clawing against each other on the way up the food chain. With
talents like Navarro, etc., ahead of him, he wasn't going to get his opportunity in Boston.

KLaw's not a big fan:
Ari Collins (Boston, MA) So, apparently the BoSox just got Alex Gonzalez. Again. Does he play over Nick Green and Chris Woodward? Should he? Keith Law (2:52 PM) Yes, and I'm leaning towards no. |
