"We put them in and had to basically call the snap count in the huddle for them. They've got a long ways to go, as would anybody coming in their first day."

Good luck to Rozier, although that is an ominous comment. He now has the privilege of playing for the most grossly overmatched head coach in SEC history, and probably already misses the Sox organization.

So far Mills' line 0.0 IP 6 H 5 ER...not exactly the start he was hoping for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the key to his success was his control, and that he didn't have "great" stuff. Could it be that his stuff just isn't good enough for AAA, yet?

It is his first start! This question hardly warrants a response. If you have a question about his scouting report, I think I know of a site that has comprehensive reports on every player in the system. If only I could remember what it was called.

I don't understand how it hardly warrants a response. It's a reasonable question. Over his ML career, he's allowed more hits than IP, by a fair margin. Yes, it is his first start. But if it is known that he does not possess great stuff, and has been "hit around" in the levels before this, why shouldn't it matter if it is his first start in AAA. Six hits in 0.0 innings is awful, and maybe it's just that the older players can easily hit him. Or maybe it is a product of too small of a SS.

He pitched 0.0 innings in his AAA debut (btw, AAA hitters are pretty good). Of course it's too small a sample size.

As Aaron said, your question really didn't warrant a response. Be thankful you got three.

Why would we ever PH for Varitek? I mean, what if we PH for him, and it goes to extras, and vic martinez gets eaten by dinosaurs? We'd have to use the emergency catcher.

Mills is going to have to adjust, just like he has every time he has been promoted. He'll have some ugly starts when he doesn't have his pinpoint command.

We can slap the "SSS Tag" on it, but Exposito's had a nice start to his AA career and has a 2 run double tonight.

Ryan Westmoreland (Remember him?) is 1-3 with a K.

I'm pretty surprised Weiland has gone SO under the radar here. Check out his numbers for the past three months. They stack up with anybody in the system. It also went unnoticed that he was absolutely robbed by Casey Kelly in the June Pitcher of the Month vote.

I'm hearing Hudson wants to become a hitter - his exact quote: "Baby-Hühner graben die lange Kugel"

How does everyone think Dennis Neuman is coming along this year? At Lowell he has a nice line with a 2.37 ERA, 19 IP, 11H, 21/8 K/BB ratio, with a .169 avg against. Looks like he gets a decent amount of GB's. The only thing that jumps out to me is he could cut his BB's down a bit, but I was wondering if anyone who's seen him has been impressed?

He doesn't light up the gun or have great action on his fastball. He's going to have to prove himself at every level.

I haven't clocked him harder than 87 with his fastball. It is usually 85-86 MPH when he throws it. His slider and change are in the low to mid 70's, but he relies on a lot of deception and changing speeds. Both secondary pitches can be good pitches and his fastball will jump given the seperation, but he will have to work a fine line at higher levels.
