Of course, it is possible that Bowden is called up to help the Boston bullpen tonight. There should definitely be some Pawtucket-to-Boston move as the Red Sox bullpen is in tatters after last night's game.

With the long flight to Tampa, I'm sure they would have preferred waiting until NY to add another pitcher. McBeth is ineligible (10-day rule). Hunter Jones or Bowden or ? ....

This would take care of the Pawsox countermove for Otness, at least for a day or so.

I would call up Bowden and make the PawSox game a bullpen game (don't want to move up the rotation for FaF). Bierd and Vaquedano can give them 5-6 innings between them.

Jones pitched two innings yesterday and McBeth is ineligible.

Fuentes 2 for 3 so far with two stole bases...Wilson with 2 shutout innings.

I had the exact same thought about Bowden going up to Boston for the night. Especially given that Penny is starting.

People are dropping hints that Billy Traber may be added to the 40 man and called up. I assume the decision has already been made and the player is on his way to or in Tampa.

Odd comment from Adam Kilgore at the Globe:

The Red Sox need a pitcher tonight because their entire bullpen was used. I listed a few candidates in today's Globe. Not certain who it will be, but you can rule out Michael Bowden.

Not sure if that is a typo in his post on the sox blog or not because in the article he linked he doesn't mention why it can't be Bowden, only that he is scheduled to start tonight and that he was used as a RP for the sox earlier.
