There is a pattern from past deadline deals and it just seems to me that some of these deals, i.e. with Cleveland or Toronto, either would have been done already, or would be in place, if they were going to happen. Gonzalez is the one possible exception to my feeling. Because of the relationships between the managements of the two teams, it is more possible a deal could be done here. I truly hope that Bard is not part of it. If it is done, then I think LaRoche goes somewhere as well, possibly Florida.

He is clearly an everyday player and needs to be playing everyday otherwise why give up the top level prospects many are asking for?? Same goes for Vmart..... why give up top level prospects for a guy that wont play everyday?? ?

For all we know they could be about to announce it (not likely, just saying).

With Gonzalez, Ortiz and Lowell would probably platoon at DH, with Youkilis mostly playing 3B. With Martinez, he goes into a rotation with Youk/Lowell/Varitek/Ortiz at 1B/3B/DH/C; I think Youk and Martinez would get more playing time than the other three... But in any of these scenarios, there's no room on the roster for Andy LaRoche.
