Fife's control has been really exceptional in his limited time this year: 4 walks in 48.1 ip.

Do the Red Sox have any legitimate prospects in the DSL?

Several prospects have recently come out of what appears to be nowhere over the past few seasons. I have every expectation that somebody will be a lot better than we initially perceive (Navarro, Pimentel). Maybe the International scouts are doing a great job ??? |

Well, Navarro found a way to get a hit in his opening game and seemed to acquit himself well in the field. Meanwhile Lars seems to have gone into another lull.
This guy is getting nowhere fast, and I guess may have to be back at Portland again next year unless he figures it out in a big hurry. I'm beginning to
wonder if there is an explanation that we don't know about.

ancientsoxfogey wrote: I'm with you about Lars. The 133 at-bats at Portland isn't an enormous sample size, but things have changed so drastically this year that I have to think something is up. Perhaps the reported back injury is lingering longer than was expected or maybe he's trying to tough it out. Or maybe he just needs to adjust to AA like 99% of incoming players. I imagine others will disagree, but Rizzo is quietly sneaking up on Lars as the top 1B prospect in the system. |
