Promoted right after just one hit in eight at-bats? I guess the Drive were into offense thin & slump since the departure of Rizzo, Mailman and Fed-Ex. They
need immediately help with Hazelbaker on board. Congrats to Jeremy for his quick promotion in short term.

Solves the outfield logjam in Lowell.
I'll be there, watching the Sox representation of mid-rotation starters. -TheGoldenGreek33 on Casey Kelly

Think of it as more of a promotion to alleviate the logjam of outfielders at Lowell and a way of getting everyone the Sox have committed to at-bats, MLBDreams.
Hazelbaker is 21 and coming out of college. There is no difference for him in the NYPL or SAL in terms of what he is going to see.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him get chewed up in Greenville, and you know I'm a big fan of his. He's jumping from one of the easiest
D-I schedules to full-season ball. It's a really tough jump.

I think it is a strong possibility. I wasn't expecting a ton from him at Lowell either right now at this point as he transitions into the professional
ranks.

I was actually thinking McGuiness might be the first draftee to get the bump to Greenville, since he played better competition in college and really has great
plate discipline - I would think he might fare better. It would also give him an Hedman regular AB's, although it wouldn't do much to alleviate the OF
logjam. I def want to see Wilkerson play as much as possible.

Is he going to be staying in CF? It seems like Dening and Hissey have manned that position between the two of them pretty much the whole season.

Congrats to Hazelbaker and hopefully he does well. Didn't Bozo predict this when he was drafted?

Do you think this means Westmoreland is ready to play the outfield? I'm wondering if they made this move to make space for him to play the field.

esaskysinnerear wrote:Not necessarily. Right now, they have Wilkerson, Pichardo, Bermudez, Feliz, and now Holmes (although he played 3B in his debut yesterday). That was probably enough of a logjam, but when you then consider that Westmoreland will join the OF at some point, something had to give. It doesn't necessarily mean that Westmoreland is ready right now though.

Does this mean the end for David Marks...been put on the "DL"? If so, it's a shame. He has the strength and mechanics we would like to see in
some of the other prospects, but hasn't been able to regain his form of last August.

I mean, his "form of last August" is hitting .237. Granted, he did slug .494.
That said, being put on the DL, even if it is a phantom trip, doesn't mean a guy is done. Doesn't bode well, but it doesn't mean the guy can't come back from it.

I was listening to the game the other day and Asheville PBP guy stated he strained hamstring going down the line on his 2AB. After a couple of games where
Marks was 5-7 with 3-2B, 1B, HR. Really bad luck for the guy because he was just starting to get some playing time.
