Gary, Indiana, as a Shakespeare would say, Trips along softly on the tongue this way-- Gary, Indiana, Gary Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Let me say it once again. Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, That's the town that "knew me when." If you'd like to have a logical explanation How I happened on this elegant syncopation, I will say without a moment of hesitation There is just one place That can light my face. I've been to Newark more times than I can count. You won't be telling me anything I don't know. Newark is a completely different city than it was even 10 years ago. Go back sometime, you'll be surprised.

Wechwaic Want to stand on Lyons ave. some summer afternoon and count how many high speed chases go by from cars that were car jacked being chased by the cops? HOw about standing in the lobby of a NEwark hospital while some crook, who robs a local convenience store nearrby comes running through with the police chasing him? Driving into NEwark at night to go to work was bad enough that you were smart not to stop at lights if yo ucould avoid it. Then how about all the growth of the gang activity over the last 15 years? Shall I go on?

Gary, Indiana is consistently one of the worst five cities in the U.S. East St. Louis is probably the most comparable city. Cities like Baltimore and Newark are Eden compared to those shitholes. Newark IMO, is still largely a dump but is certainly on the strong rebound. Gary on the other hand... i don't see the upswing there, though that town did have its day.
