Lowell Spinners
2008 Results: 40-33
2009 Manager: Gary DiSarcina
What's on deck: DiSarcina, a native of nearby Billerica, Mass., returns after guiding the Spinners to the Stedler Division title in 2008. Former Major Leaguer Kevin Walker steps in for his first pitching coach position in professional baseball and hitting coach Luis Lopez is back for a second season. Lopez could tutor second-round pick Alex Wilson, who's probably headed to Lowell. ... The Spinners will see Ryan Westmoreland, 2008 sixth-rounder, make his professional debut in the outfield. ... Derrik Gibson, a second-rounder last year, will be back after hitting .086 in 14 games for Lowell. Dennis Neuman, who played two games in the South Atlantic League this spring after serving as the Netherlands' closer at the World Baseball Classic, will come down to work on his approach. ... Third baseman Michael Almanzar, who's struggled at Greenville, could make some adjustments in Lowell. ... Drew Dominguez, a shortstop out of Wesleyan University and a native of Braintree, Mass., will round out the Spinners infield.

MiLB has an overview of the
NY-Penn League, calling out Wilson and Neuman as players to watch. What might be of more interest here is the mention of Almanzar. He's not yet been listed
on the roster on the Spinner's website, but then
neither has Wilson.

Radio/TV/Online Coverage for Lowell Spinners? | #2 | ||
|
I've tried and failed to find this info, though I'm sure someone is going to give me the answer and it will be somewhere I should have thought to look. So could someone help me out and do that (i.e., tell me where I should have thought to look for real-time coverage of the Spinners)? I thought I might find something at milb.tv, but couldn't find their future lineup (only today's, the 18th) so have no idea what sort of coverage they'll have for Lowell. Maybe there's somewhere I should be looking that I'm not. Thanks in advance. |

Eventually the radio broadcasts will have a link on the multimedia page
There is (or was) TV coverage but I don't remember the page. Iirc, it was the home page of the TV station (Lowell local) and they broadcast very few games. That was two years ago, and I'm not sure if they still do that and, at the time I had major problems with their stream. It's been a while so, any of that info might be wrong.

Isn't it about time for Hazelbaker to sign?
I just don't like the attitude that the Yankees are all there is to baseball. And I've gotten that impression over the years. Screw them. -- Beau Vaughan

Is it a typo, or is there a reason the hitting coach would be tutoring Wilson?

Almanzar was indeed listed on preliminary Lowell rosters, due to the instability of the rosters he was never officially moved, theres a decent chance he ends
up in Lowell if he continues to struggle as playing time is tight in Greenville.

For those of you heading to Lowell tomorrow night......
Extra points for buying him a dog/beer and getting quotes on any of the Sox draft picks (just kidding, let the man do his job!!) |

I'm a little disapointed that guys like Bryan Peterson, Cervenka and Yockey could't make Lowell. I guess playing time there is going to be tight at all
positionsEspecially in th OF now that Hazelbaker has signed.
I had semi-high hopes for Peterson, he seemed to show some ability last year. It just seems like guys who have spend too much time at the Fort tend to drop of the face of the planet. |

Say what you want about Keith Law, but leave Alton Brown out of it. He just showed me how to make a breathtaking balsamic reduction.
