The defense has been awful this season and Green is a very bad defender at SS.

Mike Lowell and his -0.5 UZR through 26 games isn't helping matters. Dude needs to get on Chase Utley's hip program.

What happened defensively? Only watching on espn gametracker and didn't see an error

Yeah... a real shortstop wouldn't hurt this team, that's for sure.

Green fielded a groundball behind near the 2nd base bag and flipped the ball behind Pedrioia and nearly got him killed with Shoppach lumbering into 2nd base.
That should have been the 3rd out as even Lugo could have made that play. It should have been an error. Then Martinez hit a flyball to centerfield which Van
Every should have caught which cost the Red Sox two runs. You can't give teams 5 outs when the bottom half of the lineup consists of bench players.
Poorest spending of $3 million that I have ever seen.-fcastig 0220

I think its safe the say that Masterson plays up better as a reliever than a starter.

Yup. And I had my doubts.

He certainly has the potential to be a good middle of the rotation starter, but until he develops better command and a consistent 3rd pitch he helps this team
out more in the pen.
I really wish the Sox would just give Buch a shot already. Ugh. (although I presume he'll be the guy to replace Penny when he gets his inevitable DL trip...provided Smoltz isn't ready at that time)
On the other hand if your tools suck and your skills are excellent you're either not highly regarded or you're Pedroia.

I'm not sure about that. I still have faith in him as a starter.

Lopez needs to sent down or released. Bring on Bard, send Masterson back to the bullpen, and replace him with Buchholz. |

MaleNurse2010 wrote: Thats different. The offense seems to be very inconsistent and it starts to get aggravating. Green left 6 guys on base tonight, and bailey and drew each left 3. Thats not going to get it done. Varitek was good at the plate but that was about it. Will Ortiz ever become such a non threat that Pedroia will get less pitches to hit or will Ortiz's past keep that from happening? |

Rocco starting tonight in CF. Did he even get a hit at AAA? I hope Rocco ends up being better than he looks so far.
Edit: Nope 0 - 7 with 4 Ks down at Pawtucket. |
