			<description><![CDATA[ People expect to be impressed with a near major league minimum signing with two Sox options ? On the other hand, I guess we could have gotten Lackey for the
same dollars. He&#39;ll be one of several candidates for a spring training shot that he isn&#39;t likely to get then, become AAA depth. Not a bad deal,

			<description><![CDATA[ After watching him here in Tacoma, color me unimpressed with the signing. I hope he&#39;s gained a lot of poise in Japan (as well as an out-pitch, beyond a
decent slider). If not, he&#39;s every bit the AAAA hurler I envisioned when I saw him at Cheney Stadium a few years ago. ]]></description>

</blockquote>In 2006, he played 30 games in the minors, but wasn&#39;t on a 40-man roster at all that year, so no option used. And in 2005, he played 19 games
in the minors, but that appears to be a rehab assignment, so no option used... But I see his 7/30/04 transaction is listed as &quot;recalled&quot; by ESPN and
rotoworld, so it&#39;s possible he was already on the 40-man at that point, perhaps to protect him from the rule 5 draft.
