Or at least that is how I took it. I base most of my baseball opinions on karma so I know a thing or two about this.

It is just too difficult to tell from the lower minors but Rizzo does have the rep as a better fielder and his offensive numbers are comparable. Rizzo
hasn't really lit up a league except for his short first year stint . He has been steady though. Can he put it together and go on a tear at some point? He
seems very focused and he's drawn about equal to Lars as a prospect in my view. As far as Lars being a DH, he can field the position well enough to play
1st. It will be interesting to see which one emerges in 2010.

I think it really just boils down to Lars having a higher pedigree or expectations then Rizzo coming out of HS and to an extent meeting or surpassing them the
first couple years. Lars if I remembered correctly was considered a late first/supplemental rd. talent while Rizzo was much less ballyhooed and was expected to
go in the 5-10 rounds. Right or wrong, people are gonna want to see more of the guy who surpasses expectations (Rizzo) before buying in versus the guy who has
a huge ceiling and gets off to a great start.

Jrou - Lars has better overall HR numbers in his minor league career but that is slightly deceptive because of his time in hitter friendly Lancaster. If you
just look at their Greenville numbers the story looks different. Rizzo put better numbers in Greenville than Lars except for walks while dealing with Cancer
most of 2008.

At age 18/19 Rizzo's 2008/2009 split numbers in Greenville.

At age 19 Lars 2007 full year numbers in Greenville

Given that Rizzo is much better defensively at 1B than Lars I can see Lars going the DH route and Rizzo taking over 1B in few year provided they are not
traded.

In terms of comparing Lars and Rizzo, just look at the numbers from recent years. This past season between A and high-A Rizzo hit a shade under .300, with 12
total home runs, and an OPS above .800. Lars in 2008 when the buzz on him went through the roof played in high-A and AA hit over .300, with 18 total home runs,
and an OPS over 800 including a .962 in Lancaster. The numbers are in favor of Lars. The question for Rizzo is can he put those numbers up again, which would
put him in the conversation of elite prospects in baseball like Lars was till he slipped this year for whatever reason.

guess part of it is because of the bonus the other players got compared to Rizzo but it could be something else that I am not aware off. I have read through
the scouting reports on all three of them but I am interested in a comparative analysis from the experts on these boards of the three hitters in their
strengths, weakness and projections.

Appreciate your comments.
