Not that it really matters, but that was just a putrid effort this weekend. You really have to try to win the first 8 games against a team and still not
    win the season series.

The ESPN guys said the Sox are the first team in history to win the first 8 games against a team and not win the season series.

That's embarrassed to see the season series that went from 8-0 to 9-9! They only need to win 2 more games to take the season series. It's
same old story every year: we own them before the All Star break but they come back in second half by either split or win the season series. It's no excuse
for them to lay over for the Yankees again if they were the puppets.

Anyone with any real emotional response to the Red Sox losing these games is in way too deep and should probably seek some help. They lost three, sure, but the
Magic Number still dropped, the Wild Card will be in the bag by Wednesday (at the latest) and the guys who really need to get rest are getting it. Lester's
quad is the only truly bad thing that happened this weekend. Oh, maybe Bard getting taken deep gives him a Teix issue, who knows, but really this weekend was
like late Spring Training games, nothing more nothing less.

The team played well only very sporadically on the road this year, no matter where they were playing. So this shouldn't be too much of a surprise,
especially since we saw 20 innings of Yankee playoff starters this series, and they saw 2 2/3 innings of ours. I think the Sox were especially pleased that
Buchholz missed this series. IMO he is the key factor in the rotation in October, the same way as he was the last two months of the season. Remember, if
Buchholz is the number 3 starter, natural rotation has that starter as the pitcher in game 7 of a 7-game series.

Francona is trying to get the team in shape for the playoffs. Maybe he was sandbagging the Yankees. Let's hope so.

Congrats to the Yanks. They played fantastic ball since June, something like 85-41, and deserved to win the division. Like temple said, the Sox played scared.
They were playing not to lose instead of playing to win. In a seven game series, I still think we match up well with them. They still have to beat Lester,
Beckett, and Buchholz three times to beat us.
